May 2009: "EKOPAKTEKH" Makes Global Connections

Moscow, Russia, May 21, 2009 – Environmental Packaging Technologies, Ltd. (EPT) recently concluded their participation in the world´s largest trade exhibition of logistics, telematics and transport.  The Transport Logistic show came to a close in Munich on May 15th having hosted an outstanding 48,000 trade visitors, plus setting a new record for exhibition space and exhibitors.

One focus of Environmental Packaging Technologies’ participation in the show was the announcement of their strategic partnership with Holland-based, De Rijke.  De Rijke will serve as the exclusive European distributor of EPT’s BIG Red Products, primarily their BIG Red Flexitank™.   Transport Logistic provided an excellent platform to make such an important announcement as all major container, shipping, and logistics companies were in attendance.  De Rijke and EPT were effective in cross-promoting their marketing efforts, products and services throughout the show.  

Prior to the development of EPT’s strategic partnership, De Rijke had spent over a year researching and analyzing the manufacturing, performance and logistics of flexitanks as a possible addition to their wide range of products and logistics services.  “With the current market situation, everyone is looking for cost-efficient, but safe and responsible bulk packaging and shipping solutions.  The BIG Red Flexitank system met all of our performance requirements and gives us a cost-effective option to offer our customers, particularly in the chemical and beverage sectors,” stated Peter van Klaveren, General Manager Freight Forwarding, Maritime & Customs Department with De Rijke. 

Another key factor in participating in this year’s Transport Logistic was the introduction of two revolutionary new bulkhead systems developed exclusively for the BIG Red Flexitank.  A unique double-bulkhead, ISO container cut-away featuring the BIG Red Swept-bar Bulkhead™ and the BIG Red Rigid Bulkhead™ was the centerpiece of the Environmental Packaging Technologies display area.  Visitors to EPT’s stand were able to see firsthand these highly engineered bulkhead systems designed to satisfy railroad authority regulations worldwide.  Both bulkhead systems incorporate patented ‘shock-absorption’ technology which minimizes the impact of moving liquid cargo against the container walls and doors, thereby protecting not only the cargo but also the container.  EPT specifically engineered their BIG Red Bulkheads to consistently maintain a safe distance of their 3” bottom valve from the container doors.   

These bulkhead design innovations enabled Environmental Packaging Technologies to announce at the show that their BIG Red Swept-bar Bulkhead had passed the Association of American Railroads (AAR) Rail Impact Test with flying colors.  “I was very pleased to be able to tell visitors to our booth about passing the Rail Impact Test.  We will continue to pursue satisfying rail regulations worldwide as this opens up numerous opportunities for our customers to cost-effectively consider rail options with our BIG Red Flexitanks,” said Roman Puzyrnikov, Director General, OOO “EKOPAKTEKH”.  He continued, “We have developed the strongest, safest flexitank in the industry.  Along with our new high-performance bulkheads and global logistics services, we can offer our customers a seamless and cost-effective way to ship their bulk liquid cargo around the world.” 

The BIG Red Flexitank™ system is made in the U.S.A. to strict ISO 9001:2000 standards.  It is constructed of two independent food-grade, 14 mil PE tubes with an extremely rugged, seamless outer polypropylene sleeve. It features a compression fitted flange and a ball valve, both made of the same FDA approved composite material for a wide range of product compatibility.  Each BIG Red Flexitank comes with a specially engineered multi-layer Barrier Wear Sleeve that offers a superior oxygen transmission rate and acts as a barrier to chemical and odor migration.  The unique Barrier Wear Sleeve helps protect the flexitank against possible poor container conditions and helps reduce associated costs.
